Artistic Director

It is an honor for me to stand in front of and lead a group of singers - community members from across the area from all walks of life, - who commit their time and talent to this organization. CTCS is an important part of the cultural personality of our area and to get to help lead that brings me great pride and satisfaction.

I love CTCS because I get to challenge myself and sing beautiful music with a talented group of musicians! I've sang my whole life but I get so busy with work and kids schedules that I wouldn't find time to sing without CTCS!

Music has always given me an opportunity to feel and express things I might not otherwise express. It is so important for me to be able to participate in making music that is challenging and meaningful in an environment where my contribution is important. It is rare to find a large choral environment today that offers these things, which is why I am so thankful we have CTCS. CTCS is a vibrant group of musicians who come together to share what we love with each other and our community.

I joined CTCS in the fall of 2012 to sing Carmina Burana and have stayed because I love it. I love the challenge of and hard work that goes into learning new music and the joy and excitement of performing. Music has always been part of my life whether it was growing up playing the piano, singing in school or church choirs, in area nursing homes as part of a musical therapy ensemble or by myself in the car. Though I have had some voices lessons throughout the years, I was not a music major nor was I professionally trained like others in this group. I just love to sing!

As a former choral director I never had the time to sing in a community chorus. It wasn't until I moved to Tomball ISD and became the Federal Programs Coordinator that I realized there was a life in music after teaching it for 18 years.. I sang with Texas Master Chorale. It was there that I realized how much I truly enjoyed being involved in a choral ensemble (other than church choirs.) Before we moved to Woodway, my wife searched the internet for a place for me to continue that experience. She found CTCS and I called David and talked with him and ultimately auditioned for the group. Since becoming a member, I have had the pleasure of singing great music with great musicians as part of both groups. Being a former choir director and also being retired has afforded me time to serve as the Tenor/Bass section leader (teaching the parts to those sections) and the CTCS logistics person (organizing and helping to set up for rehearsals and concerts. Helping David with anything I can is always a plus. For me, the best part of being a part of the group is getting to know people who love music in this area and being able to perform quality music with them as well as seeing how much the group has grown musically since I've been a member. The second best part is the collaborations with other ensembles in the area David began recently so that we find out more about those organizations and vice versa.
